At first, it sounded like a joke...

As I was riding the subway to church on Easter Morning, I saw the following advertisement in the JoongAng Daily (Saturday, April 7, 2007, page 3) for a bilingual secretary, and thinking that this might be useful for some poor fellow expat who's fluent in Korean and looking for a line of work other than cramming English words and rules down students' throats in the vain hope that English will be digested rather than regurgitated, I hereby post this ad on Gypsy Scholar:

Wanted

A new international humanitarian organization, currently being formed, is looking for a bilingual secretary. Gender and age unimportant. Must have excellent English writing skills and executive secretarial experience.

Please send resume to: The Secretariat of the Organizing Committee for the Inaugural General Assembly of the World Toilet Association.

That's abbreviated as "World Toliet Ass." Their email is wtaseoul2007@gmail.com -- and do note that "wtaseoul" can be rearranged as "waste lou," which is almost "waste loo."

As for this "international humanitarian organization," at first, it sounded like a joke, but the World Toliet Association does exist, and you can even visit the website and watch the toilet video (work safe). Moreover, they do seem to be doing humanitarian work by publicizing the prevalence of insufficient sanitation throughout the world due to poor toilet facilities . . . though I can imagine that somebody could eventually be making a lot of money from selling toilets to fill that toilet deficit.

WTA Motto (apologies to Satchmo): "Leave it all behind you."
