One more work of art by En-Uk

I Got Hit Again (저 또 맞았어요)
by
En-Uk Sequoya

I neglected to post this one yesterday . . . but I suppose that it wouldn't really have fit with his cheerful artwork anyway (though it would have fit his more 'malicious' art).

I'm not sure what this image implies about En-Uk's inner life. He does go to a taekwondo class every evening, where he gets 'hit' by the other kids because that's part and parcel of the 'arts martial'.

Unrelated to his practice of taekwondo is the fact that he occasionally suffers nose bleeds, thereby providing him with the experience of bleeding -- though not from every bodily pore!

Contrary to what the above work of art suggests, En-Uk remains among the living, else he wouldn't have managed to create this image.

Speaking of En-Uk's creativity, I was telling Sun-Ae just yesterday that we ought to sell prints of his art -- and even teeshirts sporting the images that he's created.

But would anybody buy them?

Dude! Don't let an american school-counselor see that!

They'll nail your hide to the wall!

Yeah, having read reports of counselors overreacting to the things that kids draw, I did hesitate about posting this particular image.

But I'm pure as the driven snow on this issue, so I decided to risk the post.

Great stuff, the bullet-ridden corpses (I'm pretty sure that's what they are).

And yes, if you rendered the images as 300 dpi PNG files (10"x10" for tee shirts), you could upload them to CafePress.com as tee shirt designs and sell them via print-on-demand. (They'd also work as mug designs, calendar designs, lunchbox designs, poster designs, etc.)

CAVEAT: You might not get many Korean buyers, because Koreans don't much like to shop online when the site's not Korean: they get all paranoid about identity theft and such. Can't say I blame them; I often feel the same way about Korean sites (most of which I can't access, anyway, as a foreigner), given the amount of piracy on the peninsula.

You might, however, attract a goodly number of foreign buyers. My own top-selling CafePress item is a tee shirt design featuring my brush art Bodhidharma.

I think En-Uk's work would look great on black CafePress tees, with a white border around them to set them off from the black fabric. I can dummy up an example for you on my own CafePress site if you're willing to give me a data file of one of En-Uk's pictures. Just send me the file as is, and I can do all the conversions and slap a tee shirt up for your perusal. If you like what you see during this proof-of-concept phase, I'll remove the design from my site and will leave it up to you to create a CafePress account and start selling tees. (It wouldn't be fair to sell your son's designs from my site, as all the money would come to me, and I'd abscond with it!)

CAVEAT 2: CafePress allows you to set up an account for free, but only if you plan on selling one single item and design. If you plan to sell more than one, then you must either (1) sign up for CP's "premium" service, which costs about $60 per year, or (2) keep creating separate free accounts for every tee design you wish to sell. This latter course of action can be a headache, which is why many people shell out the annual $60.

That image by En-UK appears to be a rendering of my inner self after reading Jeffery's analysis of one of my blog offerings.

Kevin, I'll think about this. I've toyed with the idea of getting teeshirts made here in Korea and letting En-Uk and Sa-Rah handle the business.

That would be a learning experience for them, and I bet that they'd sell a lot on university campuses.

Maybe school campuses, too.

Uncle Cran, I suspect that you're spot on.

But will the counselors get me on charges of metaphorical violence to your inner child?

"저 또 맞았어요"

Unusual choice of jondaemal in titling an artwork.

Sonagi, I'll have to ask my wife to explain that to me.

I also thought of Cafe Press tee shirts when I saw the art gallery. This particular image made me wonder how many horror movies your son has been watching lately. some kids just have morbid imaginations, though. I did, although it wasn't bloody pictures. I'd lay in the tub, holding my breath, and wonder about drowning. Scared my mother silly a time or two because I kept doing it. Kids work out how the world works in their own particular way.

En-Uk won't watch horror films, not even 'Scary' Potter. His imagination is too strong to handle them.

But he does read a lot of Korean and Japanese comics, which tend to show more blood than American ones.

But he'll work out his way through life -- as you've noted -- and someday be just as successful as his father.

Some of En-Uk's artwork look like it could be from the XKCD comics. XKCD is very popular at the high school my kid attends.

Interesting comic, CIV. Looks like Jola Man . . . but with higher math.
